Michel et Christine is a one act vaudeville by Eugène Scribe (1791-1861)[1] and Henri Dupin (1791-1887)


The original text

First performed at the Théâtre du Gymnase, Paris, on 3 December, 1821, published 1821.

Translations and adaptations

Translated and adapted into English as Love in Humble Life by John Howard Payne[2].

First performed at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on Thursday, February 14th, 1822.

Printed from the acting copy, with remarks, biographical and critical, by G.H. Davidson (London) in 1830.
