Michael practised as a lawyer before trying his hand at advertising promotion work, interior decorating and acting.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

His CAPAB productions include Mother Courage, Lovers, The Circus Adventure, The King Stag, King Lear, Story Theatre, Miss Julie (1973), London Assurance (January 1974) and A Doll's House (1975).

Understudy in the CAPAB production of The Game of Kings (1974).

Performed in Enemy – An Anti-War Collage, Othello Slegs Blankes and The Final Heir (1972) at The Space in the 1970s.

He acted in and co-directed Julius Ceasar, Grahamstown Festival 1984.

Directed The Storyteller (1984), Diary of a Madman (2001).
