Matthew Ribnick

Matthew Ribnick (1974-) is a South African actor. Grew up on the border between Boksburg and Germiston, his father Jewish and his mother a Mormon. Studied drama at the University of the Witwatersrand. Completed a BA Hons in Drama, winning the Marcello Pisanello Award for Best Actor in 1998 and 1999. Worked extensively in industrial and educational theatre and made brief guest appearances on the television. In 2001 did the workshop play White Men in Buckets, then he and Geraldine Naidoo co-wrote and performed the one-man shows The Chilli Boy (2002) and Hoot (2004/2005). Won the Naledi Award (2005) and the Fleur Du Cap Award for his performance in Hoot. Married to writer-director Geraldine Naidoo in 2006.
