Martelize Kolver (19*-). Actress, writer, translator, radio presenter.

Biography

Born in the Free State, studied at the University of Stellenbosch. Worked for Radio Algoa.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a student she acted in 'n Koffer in die Kas, Ipekonders, Drif, Die Kaal Generaals, The Sweeney Todd Shock 'n' Roll Show and Die Renosters.

On stage she's had roles in numerous productions including God van Chaos (2010), Die Ryk Weduwee, Eet Alles (2004), Diensmeisies (2008),Die Seemeeu (2016).

She has worked with numerous prominent theatre directors including Mark Graham, Shirley Johnston, Colin Ward, Marlene Pieterse, Darryl Nel and Chris Weare.

She translated several plays into Afrikaans, including Absurd Person Singular, entitled Derde Party; Much Ado about Nothing as Bohaai oor Boggerol (2004); Rabbit Hole, entitled Hasepad (she was in the cast of the Woordfees production in 2013).

She co-wrote the screenplay (with Christiaan Olwagen) the short film Toevlug.

She performed in Comedy Tonight! at The Barn (November 2002 and October 2003)

She wrote and performed the text for the Afrikaans cabaret, Sommer So!, produced at The Barn (June 2003) and Guild Theatre (March 2004).

She played ‘Pat’ in Here at the National Arts Festival (July 2003) and The Barn (August 2003).

Awards, etc.

She was nominated for a Fleur du Cap most promising student award in 1995.

Nominated Best supporting actress Fleur du Cap for Die Seemeeu 2016.
