Mariechen Naudé
Mariechen Naudé (1919-2006) She was an academic, journalist and also writer of children's literature (published by Tafelberg Publishers). She was also an actress and director.

She was trained at the University of Stellenbosch.
Career
Mariechen was a founding member of the University of the Orange Free State Drama Department. She was a member of the board of the Bloemfonteinse Teatergroep for many years, some of them as chairman. In the 1960s she was a lecturer in speech and drama at the University of the Free State.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Some of her many roles were in productions such as 'n Poppehuis, Die Heks, Ek Onthou vir Mamma, Vername Mense, Agt Vroue, The Holly and the Ivy, The Waltz of the Toreadors, Speelgoed van Glas and Macbeth.
She wrote Koerante Verkoop, Met Wie Gaan Jy Sleep, Amanda?, Na Vyftien Jaar, Die Pêrels, ‘n Poppebruilof, Die Reënoogkruik: Spektakels met Somme en Tafels & Zetta se Soektog, Die Trane die Rol oor jou Bokkie….
Some of her translations are Kop op, Dokter de Vries! (Hans Weigel), Meneer Sampson (Charles Lee), Patricia by Dick van Maasland, My Three Angels as Drie Engeltjies op Duiwelseiland, Twee Voëls met Een Skoot from the original by Philip Levene, Waar is Kameraad Mioussof? by Valentin Katajev, The Whole Truth as Die Houtjie van die Galg, Who Says Murder? as Donkerwerk, Moeite met die Minnaars (Carlo Goldoni's Mirandolina).
Awards, etc
She twice received the award as best actress of the year for the Bloemfonteinse Teatergroep.
