Biography

She had taken the Translators examination and worked for the SABC, as a secretary to the head of the SABC, and did free lance translation work. She met her husband, Fritz van der Merwe while they were both with the SABC.

Her contribution to the performing arts in South Africa

Besides writing a historical novel, she translated many literary works, notably books and radio dramas. Among the plays she translated have been Die Inspekteur-Generaal (The Inspector General by Nikolai Gogol, 1963 - with S.J. Pretorius) **
