Marie Tjaden (b. 28/11/1922 – d. 16/08/1990) was an actress.

Biography

Marie Louise Tjaden was the daughter of Gerrit Jan Tjaden, a Dutch immigrant to South Africa, and his wife Marie Louise Biermann. Records of her stage appearances are few, but she acted in Die Rooi Pruik (1945), staged by Siegfried Mynhardt for Die Maskerspelers at the Library Theatre in Johannesburg. She also acted in two films, namely Pantoffel-Regering (Ronald Brantford/1947) and Ongewenste Vreemdeling (Jans Rautenbach/1974), as well as in the television series Nommer Asseblief (1979). In addition she appeared on radio – she and Dana Niehaus had a show on LM Radio – and made a number of records on which she and Pierre Lombard presented children’s stories in Afrikaans.

She was married twice, first to fellow actor Antonius Ferreira and, after their divorce in 1957, to Len Tromp (1914-2002).
