Biography

She was born in Johannesburg. Besides painting and illustrating, she loves windsurfing and reading.

Training

She has a B.A. (Hons) in Drama from Pretoria University.

Career

Worked for The Space in the 1970s.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

She has performed in Edith Piaf – Je Vous Aime (a revue at The Space Theatre), You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (with CAPAB), Holy Moses and All That Jazz (at the Market Theatre), Fiddler on the Roof (with CAPAB 1978).

She also acted in Edith Piaf – Je Vous Aime, My Husband’s wild desires almost drove me mad, The Riddle Machine and Zombie.

Maria has also appeared in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (CAPAB 1978), the musical revue Flashing Trash (Baxter Theatre, 1980), The Car Cemetery (The People's Space, 1980), Once Upon a Bootless Christmas (Baxter Studio 1981), as Fay in Seer in the Suburbs (Baxter Theatre 1981), Lunatic and Lover (The People's Space, February 1982).

Maria directed an ACTS production of Saints Alive! in the mid 1980s.

She had a role in the television series Verspeelde Lente (1983) and in the feature film Burndown (1990).
