Marc Hosten (19**-2011) was an actor, playwright, lecturer and copy-writer.

Biography

He studied drama at the University of the Orange Free State and worked for PACOFS for a time. In 1998 he joined the Vega School of Brand Communications in Cape Town as lecturer and copy writer.

He died of cancer on 23 September 2011.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He established himself as playwright at the ATKV Kampustoneel festival.

He wrote Job, Iris-Beheer, Koebaai Ntate, Luc, Sizo Bonana E Mfulenti / I’ll See You Upstream, Galgstories and Other Noose Tales, Om 'n Jakkalsbessie, Die Basics van Lepel Lê.

Awards, etc

Om 'n Jakkalsbessie was the Free State regional winner of the 1991 SACPAC Award.

In the category Best New Script his play Die Basics van Lepel Lê won the Vita Award (Free State region) and Luc was nominated in this category the next year.

In 1994 Marc was nominated for a Vita Award (National) in the category South African Playwright of the Year for Die Basics van Lepel Lê.
