Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi (1928-2023) was a a prince of the Zulu nation, a politician and one-time actor.
Usually referred to as Mangosuthu Buthelezi, or by his praise name Shenge.
Born Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi, a prince of the Zulu nation. His mother was Magogo kaDinuzulu composer , musician and imbongi (praise-singer).
He became a South African politician who founded the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in 1975. His praise name is Shenge. Chief Minister of KwaZulu, founder of the Inkatha movement and later Minister of the Interior in the ANC-led post-Apartheid government.
Brief film career
As an actor, he played King Cetshwayo kaMpande (his own maternal great-grandfather) in the 1964 film Zulu.
