Magdalena Retief is a play by Uys Krige. An Afrikaans play about the martyrdom of Voortrekker leader Piet Retief and his family at the hands of Zulu king Dingane.
Winner of the Playwrighting competition organised by the Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society (KMDOS) in 1938 and performed on 14 and 17 December, 1938 (directed by Lydia Lindeque) to celebrate the centennial of the Great Trek.
First published by Nasionale Pers Boekhandel in 1939.
