Lucky Grills (1928 – 2007) An Australian stand-up comic and TV actor.

Biography

Born Leo Grills in Hobart, Tasmania, he adopted Lucky Grills as his professional name. Initally worked as a stand up comic in the Sydney clubs, then became a household name in Australia when he played the title role of unconventional detective "Bluey" Hills in the television series Bluey in 1976.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Though unknown in South Africa, he was brought to the country in 1970 by African Consolidated Theatres to star in the revue the All-New, Non-Stop Minstrel Scandals (Brickhill-Burke) at the Empire Theatre.
