Set up in the Lovedale Mission Station in 19**, this press published numerous works by black witers and was instrumental in creating a body of literary writing for African languages. Director was R.W.H. Shepherd (19**-19**). Among the plays published were H.I.E. Dhlomo’s ''The Girl Who Killed to Save (1935/6), Iziganeko ZomKristu by E.W. Oules (n.d.), Zangen’iinkomo by M.L. Mbidlana (1954), Bhut’Lizo ndixolele by N. Mbekeni & P.M. Ntloko (1979), .
