Louise Saint-Claire
(19*-) Actress. **Studied at University of Cape Town Drama Department, graduating in 1980, joined PACT in 1981. Her student productions included After the Fall, The Birds and Six Characters in Search of an Author. After six months with PACT's Youth Company, she starred in Robert Mohr’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Titania, together with Etienne Puren, Michael Richard and Tobie Cronjé during the opening season of the Pretoria State Theatre in 1981. Married to actor Michael Richard. She appeared for PACT in After the Fall and Filumena. A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking for the Market Theatre. SABC TV series Scotty Smith. Worked for Pieter Toerien in Simon Gray's Dog Days, Extremities, Run for you Wife and in the The Runner Stumbles. She was seen on SATV in Geraldine Aron's play The Girl Who Hated Jimmicks. Ladies in Waiting TV play directed by Franz Marx. Played the role of Thelma in Pack of Lies in 19** at the Market Theatre.
Quoted from the From Door to Door programme notes wherein Louise played the role of Mary (Age 12-76) in 2005: 'Louise's theatrical career highlights include playing Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream for the opening of the State Theatre in Pretoria and Desdemona in Othello opposite Sir Robert Stephens at Maynardville in Cape Town. Other highlights include Lois in Shrivings with Joe Stewardson, Mary in the original production of Run for you Wife with Rex Garner, First Night, Plastics, Extremities and The Last Trek amongst others. Louise has also appeared on television in Isidingo, Behind the Badge, Yizo Yizo and The Res. Radio ia another favourite medium of Louise's having spent many years appearing in radio dramas she moved into news reading for 5FM and Highveld Stereo. Louise has been part of the team on Tony Lancaster's Saturday morning breakfast show on SAFM for the past 5 years. Louise also works as a vocal and accent/dialect coach as part of Fiona Ramsey's Speakeasy Vocal Academy. Their most notable work being - the films Stander and Country of my Skull and most recently the acclaimed play Nothing but the Truth at the Market Theatre. Louise was recently seen on stage at the Studio Theatre, Montecasino, in Mum's the Word. Louise is married to actor Michael Richard; they have two children, Sarah and Jeremy.'
