He wrote the plays Champ, The Frontiersmen, The Pervert Laura, The Verbalists, The Bile Boys, The Kingmakers.

Viljoen has co-produced (with Greg Karvellas) the plays Rocks, The Abusers, The Bile Boys, The Verbalists, The Frontiersmen and The Kingmakers.

He was invited to participate in the Edinburgh Festival.

Awards

Viljoen's play Champ was produced by Artscape and won him the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best New South African Script, 2012.

At the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards held at Artscape in March 2015, his play The Pervert Laura won him the Rosalie van der Gucht Prize for Best New Director. Viljoen also won the Best New South African Script award for another of his acclaimed plays, The Kingmakers, making him the only double winner on the night.
