Little Mary Sunshine

Little Mary Sunshine [1] is a musical that parodies old-fashioned operettas and musicals. The book, music, and lyrics are by Rick Besoyan (1924-1970) [2]. The original Off-Broadway production premiered in 1959 in New York City's East Village.

1965: Staged by JODS in Johannesburg, directed by Ricky Arden, musical direction by Shirley Shearman and Jack Kruger and choreograpy by Joan Blake. The cast included: Harry Hambleton (Chief Brown Bear), Charles Vernon (Cpl Jester), Ivan Berold (Capt Warrington)
