Listen to the Wind by Angela Ainley Jeans and Vivian Ellis.

The original text

A children’s Christmas musical, by Vivian Ellis which was first produced at the Oxford Playhose in England in 1954, followed by the West End premiere in 1955.

Performance history in South Africa

1956: Produced in South Africa at the Library Theatre in 1956, directed by Taubie Kushlick with Philip Birkinshaw, Elizabeth Meyer, Brian Proudfoot, June Hern, Maureen Adair and Joyce Grant. Sets were by Pamela Lewis.

1960: Presented by the East London Music and Variety Club in the East London City Hall, produced by Hazel Muller.

1966: Revived by Kushlick in collaboration with Brian Brooke (Johannesburg July 1966, Pretoria August 1966)

1968: Presented by the Arts Theatre Club at the Guild Theatre, directed by Hazel Muller.

1985: Presented by the Arts Theatre Club at the East London Guild Theatre, directed by Brian Cook, musical direction by Joy Pannell assisted by George Mountjoy, choreography by Nola West. With Amanda Peaceful, Lynda Griffiths, Kelly Stocks, Cheryl Farrell, Lisa Thompson, Daniel Souchon, Rori-Jon Weppelman, Nola West, Tim Raven, Merrylees Burgess, Arthur de Klerk, Michael Rees, Janine Openshaw, Owen McGillivray, Nic Braithwaite, Bev Openshaw, Fran Hollingworth, George Muntjoy.
