Leslie McKenzie (1939-2019) was a radio controller, announcer and manager.

Biography

Born in Cape Town he grew up in Plumstead, and first job was with Barclay's Bank in Adderley Street. Hereafter he joined the SABC as controller and would continue working in radio for the rest of his life.

Contribution to South African theatre, film, media and performance

Completely bilingual English and Afrikaans over the course of his career worked in various capacities for ten radio stations, including the Rhodesian Broadcasting Corporation, the SABC English Service, the SABC Afrikaans Service, Springbok Radio, SAfm, Radio Algoa, Jacaranda FM and the BBC General Service. He spent his last ten years as manager of Fine Music Radio, which he co-founded
