Leonore Veenemans (1935-1973) was an opera singer.

Biography

Leonore Veenemans, born in 1935 in Witbank, studied singing privately and then, with a bursary, in Vienna for six months. She furthered her studies in Milan in 1969 but died in a car accident in 1973. Sister of performer Barbara Veenemans.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Following her studies in Vienna, she returned to South Africa, and sang in two operas. Three years later she decided to follow a singing career and performed for the various Arts Councils, as well as in music films. She also recorded popular songs.
