First performed in 1924 by Excelsior-toneelvereniging in Pretoria and then numerous times over the years. For example by the Johannesburgse Dramatiese Vereniging (directed by Stephanie Fauré) on 2 May 1925 in the Opera House in Pretoria, as part of a double bill including the watershed production of Leipoldt's Die Heks (qv). The cast: Gerty Maree (Lenie), Marti Muller (Mev Brand), Trudie de Villiers (Bettie Roux), Okkie Spruyt (Sarel Brand), Matt Laubscher (Frans Lombard). Decor by the sculptor Fanie Eloff.
