First performed in 1924 by [[Excelsior-Toneelvereniging]] in Pretoria and then numerous times over the years. For example by the [[Johannesburgse Dramatiese Vereniging]] (directed by [[Stephanie Faure]]) on 2 May 1925 in the Opera House in Pretoria, as part of a double bill including the watershed production of Leipold's ''[[Die Heks]]'' (qv). Also produced at the [[Railway Institute]] in Cape Town in 1927 by Fagan's own [[Afrikaanse Toneelvereniging]] with [[Queenie Fagan]] in the lead role. Long a popular prescribed work for schools.
