("The formidable bench/jury, or the sequel to Robert, Chef de Brigands") A play in five acts by Jean Henri Ferdinand Lamartelière (1761-1830). A sequel to Lamartelière's version of Schiller's Die Räuber.


Translations and adaptations

Translated into Dutch as De Geduchte Rechtbank, by "J.G.S.", published by Hendrik van Kesteren in Amsteldam, 1807. Possibly translated from a version by Von Kotzebue (see Bosman, 1928, p243)

(Full Dutch title: "De Geduchte Rechtbank, Een vervolg op Robert of de struikrovers; tooneelspel in vijf bedrijven.Vrij gevolgd naar het fransch van den Heer la Marteliere".)

Performance history in South Africa

1831: Produced in Dutch as on 9 July in Cape Town by the joint company Tot Nut en Vermaak, with the comedy De Dubbelde Vader by Hagemann, translated into Dutch by Dinsen Jr.
