Le Tonnelier is a opéra-comique[1], by Nicolas-Médard Audinot (1732 - 1801)[2] and François-Antoine Quétant (1733-1823). .

Original Text

First performed by the Comédiens Italiens ordinaires du Roi on 16 March 1765.

Published in Paris in 1765.


Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1803: Performed in the African Theatre by the French Company under the leadership of C.M. Villet on Saturday 13 August with Le Tableau Parlant (Anseaume), Les Jardiniers (Davesne) and Toinon et Toinette (Desboulmiers and Gossec).

1809: Performed by Tot Nut en Vermaak in French on 24 April, in the African Theatre, along with Robert, Chef de Brigands (Lamartélière).
