Le Peintre Amoureux de Son Modèle ("The Painter in Love with his Model") is an opéra comique[1] in two acts piece by Egidio Duni (1709-1775)[2] and Louis Anseaume (1721-1784)[3].

The original text
First performed at the Théâtre de la Foire Saint-Laurent, Paris, on 26 July, 1757. Published in Paris by Duchesne.
Translations and adaptations
A musical piece called The Painter and His Model (no author given) was part of the repertoire of the Poussard-Bailey Company during their 15 month long tour throughout the South Africa in the late 1860s. No such English work can be traced, but it seems likely that this may in fact have been an English version of the French work done by the opera company.
Performance history in South Africa
1867-9: According to F.C.L.
