Le Chapeau d'un Horloger ("The hat of a watchmaker") is a one act comedy by Delphine de Girardin (1804–1855)[1].

The original text

First performed in Paris, at the Théâtre du Gymnase on 16 December, 1854, and published there by Calmann and Lêvy in the same year.

Translations and Adaptations

Translated into Dutch as De Hoed van den Horlogemaker (The hat of the watchmaker") by Leonard for the use of the Rederijkers and published in Amsterdam in 1875.

Performance history in South Africa

1886: Performed in Dutch as De Hoed van den Horlogemaker in the Oddfellows Hall, Cape Town, by Aurora II on 19 October, with Het Brandmerk, of De Twee Galeiboeven (no author given, but a play by Boirie, Carmouche and Poujol)
