First performed in Paris at the Théâtre de l’Ambigu-Comique, 7 November, 1840, published in Magasin Théâtral in 1840.


Translated into Dutch as Lazaro de Veehoeder, of Misdaad en Wraak ("Lazaro the Shepherd, or crime and revenge") by H. Tiggelaar ()[], published in Amsterdam in 1842.
