Lady Melvil, ou Le Joaillier de Saint-James is a French a musical comedy in 3 acts, by Henri de Saint-Georges (1799-1875)[1] and Adolphe de Leuven (1800-1884)[2], with music by M. Albert Grisar (1808-1869)[3]

First performed in Paris at the Theatre de la Rennaisance (Salle Ventadour) on 15 November 1838. Published by Marchant, 1838.

The English text first performed 17 February, 1862 in the Opera Comique London.
Performance history in South Africa
1870: Performed in English as The Jeweller of St James by the Young Men's Institute and Club Dramatic Company, Cape Town, on 25th August, with Match Making (Poole)
