L'Heureuse Erreur ("The amusing error") is a one act French comedy by Joseph Patrat (1732-1801)[1].

Original Text

It was first performed in Paris by Les Comediens Italiens Ordinaires du Roi, on 22 July 1783 and published in Paris by Paris by Louis in 1783 and P. Phillippot in 1784.

Translated into Dutch as Het Geschenck, of De Gelukkige Misvatting by Hendrik Ogelwight Jr. (1764 - 1841).

Performance history in South Africa

1823: Performed in Dutch as Het Geschenck, of De Gelukkige Misvatting on 5 April by Tot Nut en Vermaak in the African Theatre, Cape Town, with De Ortenbergsche Familie (Vreedenberg).
