Kunene and the King is a play by John Kani (1943-).

The original text

The play was produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Fugard Theatre, and had its world premiere at The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in England in 19. Directed by Janice Honeyman with John Kani and Antony Sher. Design is by Birrie le Roux and lighting is by Mannie Manim.

Performance history in South Africa

2019: The RSC/Fugard production was first presented in South Africa by Eric Abraham at the Fugard Theatre, from 30 April 2019. Directed by Janice Honeyman with John Kani and Antony Sher.
