The original text

The play was first performed as a curtain raiser to Endgame (from 28 October to 29 November 1958) at the Royal Court Theatre, London, directed by Donald McWhinnie and starring Patrick Magee. Later translated into French by the author as La Dernière Bande.

Performance history in South Africa

1961: Krapp's last tape by Samuel Beckett (Krapp played by Athol Fugard) presented by the AMDA Rehearsal Room [19.11.1961] (NELM [Collection: ASCH, Valda]: 2005. 65. 1. 10 (theatre programme)

1963: Presented by the University of Cape Town's University Dramatic Society at the Little Theatre in August, directed by Edwin Polakow.

1967: Produced by Athol Fugard in a double bill with The Third Degree, Rhodes Universiy Theatre.

1987: CAPAB, 1987, performed with Endgame in the Nico Arena.
