Formally known as the Shochiku Kageki Dan (SKD) when it was founded in 1928, the troupe was resident at, and the main attraction of, the famous Kokusai Theatre Asakusa ("Akasuka International Theater")[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asakusa_International_Theater] from Tokyo. They had become world famous for their appearance in the Marlon Brando film ''Sayonara'' (1958). The company ceased to exist with the closing of the theatre in 1982.

The Kokusai Revue was a revue performed by the Shochiku Revue Troupe, an all-female Japanese dancing and revue troupe from the Kokusai Theatre Asakusa ("Akasuka International Theater") in Tokyo.

Performances in South Africa

The troupe visited South Africa in 1973 with this revue (and billed as the Kokusai Revue) under the auspices of Yango John, performing in Cape Town and at His Majesty’s Theatre Johannesburg, in October 1973. Their local managing agent was Sybil Summers and the publicist was Hazel Feldman.
