I found partners, took a lease on an old movie house with a seating capacity of 200 and created the Knysna Playhouse. I flew several actors (Liz Curtis, for example) from the original IceHouse cast of Proof here to open along with one of South Africa’s leading actors, Marius Weyer. Later I invited Leslie and Pete Penuel (Streetcar..;Art) from Orlando to star in Dinner With Friends. Finally, my protégé, Joel Warren, came to appear in a one-man tour de force that I selected for him.

The Knysna Playhouse was a small theatre started in 2006 by Terrence Shank in an old movie house with a seating capacity of 200. There he staged Proof with Marius Weyers and American actress Liz Curtis. He brought American actors Leslie and Pete Penuel to star in Dinner With Friends and he staged a one-man show with his American protégé, Joel Warren. But Knysna did not have enough theatre-goers to cover the overheads and the venture was not viable, so the Knysna Playhouse was forced to close down.
