(1933-2008) American dancer, director and choreographer. A star of Broadway, he began his career in 1945 and as a dancer appeared in shows like Fiddler on the Roof, Silk Stockings, The Gay Life and Ben Franklin in Paris. On National tours, he performed in Pajama Game, Fiorella and many others, and appeared on television and at the Radio City Music Hall. Choreographed productions of Guys & Dolls, Finian's Rainbow, The Music Man, Pajama Game, Archy and Mehitabel and the film, A Lovely Way to Die. He won Jerome Robbins’s permission to direct and choreograph West Side Story in Argentina and South Africa. He did it for the Academy at the Alexander Theatre in 1970, and it is here he met Carynne Thomas, whom he married. He came to South Africa again in 1984 to choreograph Fiddler on the Roof for Taubie Kushlick. He retired from the stage after his marriage.
