Subject

Examines the life, during WW II and afterwards, of a Kindertransport [1] child. Though fictitious, it is based upon many real kinder stories. [2]

Performance history

First performed in the UK by the Soho Theatre Company at the Cockpit Theatre in London on April 13, 1993 and the US at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York on April 26, 1994. Subsequently the play has been produced in Sweden, Japan, Germany, Austria, Canada and South Africa.

Performance history in South Africa

1997: Staged in the Barney Simon Theatre at the Market Theatre in March 1997, directed by Barbara Rubin, with Dorothy-Ann Gould, Paddy Canavan, Leila Henriques, Louise Barnes, Susan Rossouw, Robert Hobbs. Sets by Nadya Cohen.

1997: Staged in the Baxter Theatre in September 1997, directed by Roy Sargeant, with Helen Bourne, Diane Wilson, Bo Petersen, Bianca Amato, Siobhan Hodgson and Kevin Smith. (Nominated for several Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards.
