Ken Jackson (19**-2005) was a Durban-based actor.

Biography

Born in York, in the United Kingdom, where he started in theatre, before moving to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) in 1955, where he made appearances in many stage and radio productions, including an award-winning performance at the national drama festival. Eventually television dominated his activites and for twenty years he presented a wide variety of programmes from the Bulawayo studio RTV, which included the particularly notable series Armchair Safari and Battles.

He moved to South Africa in 1984 and settled in Durban which facilitated a return to the stage. He died there in January, 2005.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

While living in Durban, he appeared in many productions for the Natal Performing Arts Council (now The Playhouse Company), among them The Sleeping Prince, Antony and Cleopatra, She Stoops to Conquer, Amadeus.

He also played "Sergeant Major Drummitt" in the film Breaker Morant.
