(1945-) Librarian, arts researcher. Born in Graaff-Reinet, schooling i.a. at Oranje Meisies in Bloemfpontein, studied at the University of the Orange Free State. Was a public librartian for 20 years, then became a research assistant and director of outreach programmes at the University of Stellenbosch's Sasol Art Museum and Gallery (19**-). Married Temple Hauptfleisch in 1968. Mother of IT Company director Anzel Mercker and theatre director/writer Gaerin Hauptfleisch. She serv ed on the editorial staff of the South African Theatre Journal as subscriptions manager for almost twenty years (1992-2011).
