Married [[Temple Hauptfleisch]] in 1968. Mother of IT Company director Anzel Mercker  and theatre director/writer [[Gaerin Hauptfleisch]]. She served on the editorial staff of the ''[[South African Theatre Journal]]'' as subscriptions manager for almost twenty years (1992-2011).
