Journey’s End [1] is a 1928 drama by English playwright R. C. Sherriff [2]. First produced by the Incorporated Stage Society at the Apollo Theatre, London, 9 December 1928, starring Laurence Olivier [3] as Stanhope. First published 1929.
Performance history in South Africa
1956: John McKelvey directed the play for the Cockpit Players, November 1956 at the Hofmeyr Theatre, starring David Beattie, Brian Bell, Robert Del Kyrke, John Hussey, John McKelvey, Harry Victor. Décor David Crichton.
1977: Norman Coombes directed Journey's End, for PACT at the Market Theatre in February 1977 starring Nroman Anstey (Capt. Harvey), Michael McCabe (Osborne), Anthony James (Mason), Martin Aylott (Broughton), John Rogers (Raleigh), Richard Haines (Capt Standhope), Dale Cutts (Lt Trotter), Frantz Dobrowsky (Hibbert), George Jackson (Sgt-Maj) and Norman Coombes (The Colonel). Decor by Alan Pickford and costumes by Frances Michaleton.
