Joss Levine (19*-) Performer.

Training

He studied drama at Mountview Theatre School in London and mime at the E'Cole Jacques Le Coq in Paris. He also attended a theatre workshop at the Teatro Del Mimmodrama school in Milano.

Career

He taught mime at the Market Theatre Laboratory.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Joss starred in Susan Pam-Grant and D.J. Grant’s Take the Floor at the Laager in 1994. He worked at the experimental Loft Theatre performing in productions like Kwamanzi and In the War.

He performed in East (1994), Romeo and Juliet (PACT 1992), Take the Floor, Womb Tide (1990), Comrades Arms (1999).

In 1993 he co-wrote and performed Joey Goes Superman.

In 2000 he co-wrote, with Craig Freimond, and performed Gorfinkel & Son at the Market Theatre.

He co-wrote the puppet play Jellynod.

Awards, etc

Joss was nominated for best supporting actor in East and Womb Tide and won Best National Vita Comedy of the year award in 1995 for Take the Floor before it was invited to the Edinburgh Arts Festival.
