Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) [1]. Famous British author, promotor of the Empire and Nobel Prize Winner (1907). Visited South Africa periodically between 1896 and 1908, as a guest of Cecil John Rhodes. He was an associate Editor of The Friend in Bloemfontein after the British occupation in 1900. He advised Stephen Black to concentrate on local colour and Cape characters in his plays.
