Johnny Bovang was born in Kristiansand, Norway, where he began training before moving to the Royal Ballet School, London. Joined PACT Ballet in 1982. In 1988 returned to Norway for one year, rejoining PACT Ballet July 1989. Promoted to principal dancer in January 1992. Repertoire includes Franz in Coppelia, Oberon in The Dream, Albrecht in Giselle, Florimund and Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, the Prince in The Nutcracker, Colas in La Fille mal gardée, Siegfried in Swan Lake, Crassus in Spartacus, Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, Danilo and Camille in The Merry Widow, James in La Sylphide, Prince in Cinderella, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Basilio in Don Quixote, Andrei in War and Peace and roles in many shorter ballets by Ashton, Balanchine, Goh, Bournoville, Fokine, Bintley and others. Winner of awards from FNB Vita Awards and DALRO.
