(****-****). Actor. Won a Three Leaf Arts Award for Best Leading Actor 1976. (194*-) Actor and director. ** Trained at the Central School of Drama, London. He starred in the hit musical comedy Irma la Douce, staged by the Brooke company in 1960. Frank Staff did the choreography for this musical starring Siegfried Mynhardt, Heather Lloyd-Jones and Robert Haber. It toured all the major cities and the Rhodesias. He was kept in steady employment by PACT in 1966. (See PACT) . He starred in the Langford-Inglis, Udwin and Brooke production of The Au Pair Man at the Brooke in 1971. Quoted from the programme of Snake Beneath the Rose performed in 1986: 'Trained at London's Central School of Drama, John has for the past 8 years appeared in a wide variety of roles in Cape Town where he was nominated for the Best Actor of the Year awards for his performances as The Lover in Strindberg Without Tears, as Philante in The Misanthrope, as Horace in School for Wives (all for CAPAB) and as Walter in The Company of Four production of The Price. He won the Three Leaf Arts Awards for Best Leading Actor for his Mark Anthony in Julius Ceasar at Maynardville.
