Born John Christopher Lovell Pank in Plymouth on 24 October 1939 to British parents returning from the Argentine by ship shortly after the outbreak
He is married to actress Pauline Bailey.
He passed away June 27, 2019.

His plays include Windmills of the Mind. This play, with Kerry Jordan, Michael McCabe, John Hussey and Bobby Heaney was directed by François Swart for PACT in 1979. CAPAB mounted their own production of the play simultaneously, opening 18 June 1979 at the Nico Malan Theatre Centre.
