Inter alia had roles in Two for the Seesaw, ( Cockpit Players, Cape Town, 1962 - with Fiona Fraser); Brian Brooke’s Pyjama Tops (at the Playhouse in 1963, with Shirley Firth); Angus McNeill and Shirley Firth’s second production, The Creeper - with Michael McCabe, at the Intimate Theatre, 1967); Terence Frisby’s There’s a Girl in My Soup (Brooke Theatre, 1967, directed by Petrina Fry with Melody O’Brian) As director did William Douglas Home’s West End comedy, The Reluctant Peer, for PACT in 1964; A Month in the Country (PACT, 19**)

HAYTER, John. (19*-) Actor. *** He starred in Two for the Seesaw, which the Cockpit Players staged in Cape Town in 1962. It also starred Fiona Fraser. He starred in Brian Brooke’s Pyjama Tops, which was staged at the Playhouse in 1963. It also starred Shirley Firth. He directed the PACT production of William Douglas Home’s West End comedy, The Reluctant Peer, in 1964. He starred in Angus McNeill and Shirley Firth’s second production, The Creeper, together with Michael McCabe at the Intimate Theatre in 1967. He starred in Terence Frisby’s There’s a Girl in My Soup which was staged at the Brooke Theatre in 1967. It was directed by Petrina Fry and also starred Melody O’Brian. He starred in Pinero’s The Magistrate, directed by Roy Sargeant for PACT at the Alexander Theatre in 1969. He starred in the PACT production The Case of J. Robert Oppenheimer, directed by Leonard Schach, in 1971. He starred in Rex Garner’s production of The Brass Hat for the Academy at the Brooke Theatre in 1972. It also starred Peter Elliot and Ian Drummond. He starred in Say Something together with Rex Garner, George Korelin and Melody O’Brian at the Academy Theatre in 1977. He starred in Pieter Toerien and Shirley Firth’s last joint production at the Intimate namely Robert Kirby’s It’s a Boy together with Anne Power and Charles Comyn in 1982/83. It then moved to the Academy on the 2 February 1983. * (Tucker, 1997)
