In 1968 he became a lecturer in acting and directing at the University of Stellenbosch, completed an M.Dram degree and turning to directing superbly crafted shows with students. Among his productions for the Department were Frisch’s Andorra (198* ), Pirandello’s Ses personasies op soek na 'n skrywer Six Characters in Search of an Author, 198*), Buchner’s Woyzek (198*), and Ionesco’s Enrico Quarto (1984?), and **??’s August, August, August (198*).
