FOURIE, Joey (19*-) Theatre archivist. A long-term employee as accessions officer of the Documentation Centre for Performing Arts at the Human Sciences Research Council in Pretoria and later the Centre for South African Theatre Research (CESAT). She was known to and valued by all artists who donated material and all researchers who used the facilities for her empathy and understanding of their needs, and especially for her immense knowledge of the huge collection. Contributed significantly in this way to the writing of and visual presentation of the history of South African theatre, though never writing anything herself.
