Jean Anouilh (1910–1987)[1] is a French playwright. His works have been extremely popular in South Africa, in English and Afrikaans.

Among the many productions have been done are Antigone by the Company of Four (1952), Arena Theatre Company (1956) Thieves’ Carnival (Johannesburg REPS, 1958), Romeo and Jeanette (in AfrikaansPACT, 1963), Becket (CAPAB, 1963; PACOFS, in Afrikaans 1970/1; PACT 198*), Ring Round the Moon (PACT, 1964), The Director of the Opera (PACT, 1977), *.
