The original text
First performed in Paris, at the Théâtre de l'Odéon, on 11 October, 1871.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Dutch by an unknown author. Nothing is known of the Dutch version, except that a performance of a dramatic sketch called Jean Marie (no author mentioned), with a work called "Genraalsvrouwtje" (probably Het Generaalsvrouwtje by Henri t'Sas), is recorded by the Rederijkerskamer 'Nut en Genoegen' te Holwierde on 14 January, 1921.
Performance history in South Africa
