Jean-Marie is a one act drama in verse by André Theuriet (1833–1907)[1]

First performed in Paris, at the Théâtre de l'Odéon, on 11 October, 1871.

Translated into Dutch by an unknown author. Nothing is known of the Dutch version, except that a performance of a dramatic sketch called Jean Marie (no author mentioned), with a work called "Genraalsvrouwtje" (probably Het Generaalsvrouwtje by Henri t'Sas), is recorded by the Rederijkerskamer 'Nut en Genoegen' te Holwierde on 14 January, 1921.

Performance history in South Africa

1908: Performed in Dutch as Jean Marie by Onze Taal in the Empress Theatre, Pretoria, on 18 June (the author's name wrongly given as "Theurieb" by Bosman, 1980:485). Also performed were De Boezemvriend(Praga) and Voor het Diner (Simons-Mees).
