Jannie Botes (1952-2017). Award-winning journalist.

After completing a B. Drama and an Honours degree at the University of Stellenbosch he had a 12-year career as a radio and television journalist in South Africa. He left South Africa in 1987 and settled in America. He was an Associate Professor in the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Baltimore (UB) and a past Director of the Master’s Program in Negotiation and Conflict Management (2006–2010). He passed away on 22 January 2017.

As a student he had stage-appearances in The Double Face of Love (1971), Periandros van Korinthe (1972), Die Kaukasiese Krytsirkel (1973), Miss Los Istrata (1972).

He had roles in the films 'n Sonneblom uit Parys [1] (1974) and Herfsland [2] (1979).
